Full cheek French mouth Pelham bit
A Pelham with arms on it, and a French mouth centre besides: the Jump'In Full Cheek French Mouth Pelham is the compromise-format Pelham taken in the most horse-friendly direction - where the classic lends double-bridle-style answers to a single-bridle setup, this one softens both the message and the steering problem at once.
How it works: the Pelham delivers its lever action through the lower rein, strength scaling with cheek length and curb chain adjustment as Jump'In specifies - producing the give-in-the-neck response and mandible pressure the classic is known for. The French mouth centre protects the palate; the full cheek arms add directional control the plain Pelham lacks. Use it direct, on loops, or four reins; a leather or nylon chain can soften the action further.
Why we rate it: arguably the most practical Pelham in the range for a horse new to the format - the arms prevent the soup of steering errors and the centre prevents palate drama, leaving you to learn the curb-rein conversation cleanly. Classic hunter-jumper territory, well executed. German silver (65% copper, 23% zinc, 12% nickel); rinse fully after riding. See our leverage bits.
