Elevator bit

Let's be clear-eyed about the Elevator: it's one of the strongest tools Jump'In makes, with a big lever action and directional bars to match - built for specialists, and Jump'In says plainly it doesn't suit every hand or every horse.

How it works: the elevator geometry combines pronounced lever action with bar cheeks that ensure serious directional control - the format behind the name is straightforward: elevation conversations under very controlled circumstances. Reins go direct, through loops, or in four, and a curb chain can be added as a plain chain, leather or nylon, tuning the action to taste (i.e. softening it).

Why we rate it: in honest hands with an established horse it is transformational kit - largely a showjumping and cross-country tool for a specific, experienced brief. In casual hands we wouldn't recommend it, and we'd rather write that than gloss over it. Chain choice does much of the tuning, so fit it thoughtfully.
