The confirmed leaner meets its polite rebuttal in the Jump'In Waterford Beval: the three-mode beval cheeks for adjustable action, and rolling Waterford balls that give a heavy horse nothing solid to push against.

How it works: rein position chooses the mode on the beval rings - lateral, lever, or mild gag - so strength stays a dial rather than a cliff, per Jump'In's design. The Waterford cannons handle the interior: the linked balls flex and split every contact point continuously, so a horse that posts against a fixed rail finds a surface that simply isn't one. Rig it light and the whole package stays light; this is the beval for the horse that leans just enough to be rude but not enough to justify artillery.

Why we rate it: a surprisingly civilised combination - most anti-lean equipment shouts, and this one negotiates from three different distances. For the weekend showjumper that gets steadily heavier down the lines, start here before anything with curb chains. German silver (65% copper, 23% zinc, 12% nickel). Scrub between the balls after every ride. See our full leverage bits range.
