Firm communication is the stated brief of Jump'In's Twisted Full Cheek Gag with Flat: thin twisted cannons and a central flat give the rider a louder voice on top of the standard full cheek gag combination of rebalance plus direction.

How it works: gag rings supply the lift-and-shift-weight-back action, growing with ring size, while the full cheek arms preserve steering no matter what the mouth is discussing. The mouthpiece is the escalation: twisted thin cannons arrive with sharpened definition and the flat centres each half-halt, so a horse that had learned to shrug at the plain version hears this one clearly. Special gag cheekpieces; two reins, loops, or four.

Why we rate it: top of the full cheek gag family for strength, so apply the usual order of operations - schooling with four reins, a plan behind the choice, and hands that close deliberately. In the right situation (experienced campaigner, honest rider) it is the bit that ends the argument. German silver (65% copper, 23% zinc, 12% nickel). Rinse the twist grooves and slides after every ride. See our leverage bits.
