The Felipe is one of Jump'In's own designs, developed by the Jump'In team as a hybrid: a cross between a Pelham and a 3 ring bit, built in Blue Steel with copper for a horse that needs to come back to the hand.

How it works: the upper ring is different from a standard 3 ring, so the action lands more directly, and the chain adds strength when the curb engages. The result, as Jump'In describes it, is a horse less close and more tight on the bit, but totally under control.

Why we rate it: it is perfect when the intention is a lighter contact and the horse holding itself a bit more during work, and the Blue Steel and copper construction oxidises with time into a warm surface most horses salivate for. Rinse after each use.
