Direct is the word for Jump'In's French Mouth 3 Ring: unlike the German version's softened progression, the classic 3-ring stack speaks more immediately, and the French mouth centre keeps that directness from ever becoming a poke.

How it works: the classic 3-ring gives a gag action with a more direct delivery than the German model - pick your ring, get your answer. Cannons are a comfortable standard 17 mm thickness, so the leverage format arrives without a mouthpiece upgrade hidden inside it, and the French mouth shaping protects the roof of the mouth when the lower rein engages. Reins fixed below, loops, or two pairs - your choice governs the volume.

Why we rate it: this is 3-ring riding in its traditional form, and for a horse that respects a clear, prompt contract, the directness is a feature rather than a fault. Thicker cannons make it one of the kinder entries in the classic 3-ring world - a good crossover for the horse that finds even the German version too polite. German silver (65% copper, 23% zinc, 12% nickel). Rinse the ring stack well; browse our leverage bits.

— Sizes: 125 mm (5 in) or 135 mm (5.25 in).
