A high port isn't always wanted, and the Jump'In Small Cheek Weymouth Bit with Port keeps the arch modest. The result is a gentle, everyday double-bridle curb: fixed Lhotte-style cheeks, room for the tongue under the large curved cannon, and a lever action kept in check by the small branch size.

How it works: the cannon's large curve leaves space beneath the bit for the tongue to move, and the port lifts the centre clear of the bars' most sensitive span. Because the Weymouth works only in partnership with a bradoon snaffle on a double bridle - or a double bridle loop added to a standard bridle - the pair share the mouth: the bradoon steers and the Weymouth collects.

Why we rate it: first-double-bridle candidates are often mouths with opinions, and the lower, wider arch here is friendlier to them than a tall port. We'd spec it for the horse learning to accept curb action, with a bradoon it already likes above. German silver (65% copper, 23% zinc, 12% nickel) and Jump'In's usual tidy machining. Rinse the port and under the cannon daily. See our bridle accessories for curb chains and loops.
