Large Ring Gag bit with high port
Big rings, tall port: the Jump'In Large Ring Gag with High Port is built for the horse that needs both a real gag question and genuine tongue freedom - and per Jump'In's notes, the port pays back in breathing and focus as well as comfort.
How it works: large gag rings drive the rebalancing action, encouraging the horse to transfer weight onto its hindquarters, with magnitude rising on ring size. The high port arches over tongue and palate so the horse can place its tongue and keep breathing easy while the leverage does its work - and direction steals a free win as well. Uses special gag cheekpieces; two reins, loops, or four, as usual.
Why we rate it: one of the smarter strong bits, because it splits the duties: the cheeks asks the balance question, the port keeps the inside of the mouth content, and neither has to overreach. For big-moving jumping horses with fat tongues that other gags crowd, it's a reliable fix. German silver (65% copper, 23% zinc, 12% nickel). Clean under the port and the rings alike; see our leverage bits range.
