Tongue placement matters more than most riders realise for breathing and focus in work - Jump'In says as much - and the Baucher with Loose High Port is their Baucher format tuned for exactly that. The tall port gives the tongue its zone, the palate stays untouched, and the Baucher cheek supplies its signature quiet suggestion to come round.

How it works: like every Baucher, the upper arms attachment creates a fixed, stable mouthpiece and a light lever effect, encouraging the horse to take a better contact and work in a rounder frame without a fight. The loose high port lifts off both the tongue bed and the roof of the mouth, letting the horse place its tongue calmly and, in Jump'In's phrasing, breathe automatically better.

Why we rate it: a lovely flatwork tool for the horse that hollows and fusses; the combination of stability and tongue room suits the sensitive warmblood especially, and the horse typically works more relaxed over a schooling session. It's also a gateway if you're new to formats beyond snaffles - gentle, simple to fit. German silver (65% copper, 23% zinc, 12% nickel). Rinse under the port daily. Browse our snaffle bits range.
