Jump'In's own write-up for the Mac Genis French Mouth Eggbutt reads like a checklist for the uncomplicated horse: no particular problems, just a straightforward ride that needs a consistent, neutral bit. Fixed eggbutt cheeks and a palate-free French mouth centre cover both ends of that brief.

How it works: the Mac Genis rolling mouthing element keeps the jaw busy and relaxed, while the French mouth cannons join in the centre without ever touching the roof of the mouth. Because the eggbutt rings don't slide, the contact is more direct than a loose ring - aids arrive as sent, with no rotational lag. Classic Jump'In materials throughout: German silver (65% copper, 23% zinc, 12% nickel) with the all-copper mouthing ring the Mac Genis line is known for.

Why we rate it: the quiet achiever of the range. It won't fix anything, but a horse that's already willing doesn't need fixing - it needs equipment that stays out of the way, and this bit does exactly that from warm-up to cool-down. School, trail or arena, it's a no-drama choice. Rinse after riding, and pair it with anything from our bridle accessories.
