Large Ring French mouth bit with a high port
Tongue-sensitive horses have a raw deal in most bits, but the Jump'In Large Ring French Mouth Bit with High Port is built for them. The high port lifts the mouthpiece off the tongue and well clear of the palate, giving the tongue somewhere to live while the big loose rings keep steering honest - a combination that suits horses that fuss, gape or come above the bit when tongue pressure builds.
How it works: the port blends what riders like about full bits and French mouths: nothing presses the palate, and nothing clamps the tongue. A horse carrying it can place its tongue under the port, breathe freely and settle into work; the large rings add direction plus a light lever effect, so turning aids arrive without a pull on the inside rein.
Why we rate it: plenty of ported bits are ports first and comfort second; this one reverses that order. If your horse's issue is the tongue rather than the bars, this is where I'd look before reaching for anything stronger. German silver throughout (65% copper, 23% zinc, 12% nickel). Give it a rinse after riding, and browse the full snaffle range for alternatives.
— Sizes: 125 mm (5 in) or 135 mm (5.25 in).
