Large Ring French mouth blocked Gag bit

Jump'In's Large Ring French Mouth Blocked Gag carries a sting in reserve: the self-blocking mouthpiece firms up automatically when the horse grabs, on top of the large-ring gag action. For the confirmed leaner that treats gags as a game, that's the missing consequence.

How it works: the large gag rings prompt the rebalance-and-shift-weight-back response, scaled in strength by ring size. When contact turns heavy, the self-blocking mechanism locks the cannons solid - action strengthens until the horse softens, at which point the mouth frees up again. The French mouth shaping guards the palate through all of it. Special gag cheekpieces needed; rides on two reins, loops, or four.

Why we rate it: we rate the blocked concept wherever the horse is smart enough to exploit equipment - and the leaner-into-a-gag horse is exactly that. It's still a big action, so treat it as a remedial tool with a plan and a soft hand, not a shortcut. School it at home before it ever sees a cross-country start box. German silver (65% copper, 23% zinc, 12% nickel); rinse thoroughly, blocking joints included. More leverage bits here.
