Large Ring French mouth Gag bit
Balance is the whole brief of Jump'In's Large Ring French Mouth Gag: goals the horse toward rebalancing onto its hindquarters, with eagerness scaled by ring size - and this one carries the large rings, so it's the version that means it.
How it works: gag cheeks slide through the big rings as the rein engages, lifting the mouthpiece and prompting a weight shift back onto the hindquarters; the larger the rings, the more assertive that prompt. The French mouth centre keeps any of that from arriving at the palate. It needs special gag cheekpieces, and is ridden with two reins directly, on bit loops, or in four reins for the two-stage conversation.
Why we rate it: this is a cross-country and showjumping standard for horses that get long and flat on the approach. With four reins and a fair rider, it produces the lift without the fight; with just gag reins and a busy hand, it's overkill - we'd rather say that plainly. The French mouth shaping makes the sharper action easier to forgive. German silver (65% copper, 23% zinc, 12% nickel). Rinse the slides well. Explore our leverage bits.
