Hard work, long float trips, or an unusually hot week — this is a concentrated apple-flavoured electrolyte solution for replacing what sweat takes out of a horse. Sodium, potassium and chloride in balanced ratios, with glucose to aid absorption, made in Australia by Value Plus, an Australian-owned animal health manufacturer.

Dosing is refreshingly simple: 40mL in 2L of fresh water for horses in light work, 60mL in 3L for moderate work, and 80mL in 4L for heavy sweat loss or dehydration. Ponies under 350kg take half the adult volume. Offer it in drinking water, mix it into feed, or syringe it directly after exercise.

When it matters: sustained sweating through summer, travel days, event weekends with multiple classes, and any bout of illness. Electrolyte imbalance sits behind a lot of "tired horse" days that get blamed on feed — restoring it is one of the cheapest performance gains in the shed.
